Where to watch the AFL Grand Final in Bali
Are you in the middle of an incredible tropical break in Bali but worried about missing the AFL Grand Final next weekend? Have no fear, Bali has some great venues that that will enable you to keep up with all of the of the action whilst enjoying a happy holiday atmosphere and a few ice cold Bintangs.
Finns Recreation Club
Situated right on the beach in ultra-trendy Canggu, Finns is an extremely popular, must visit venue. With with a waterpark, tennis courts, super modern gym, spa, restaurants and bars, Finns has something for everyone, sports lover or otherwise.
As far as the AFL Finals go, this year matches will be shown on a couple of ‘monster screens’ (8x3m LED) as well as thirty smaller screens spread between the club’s indoor and outdoor bars. There will also be competitions, jumping castles for the kids and a buy 2 get 1 free promotion on beer – what more could you want?

Bamboo Bar and Grill
Kuta’s Bamboo Bar and Grill is a sports bar with a difference – the entire structure is built from eco-friendly materials (mainly bamboo, obviously!) The resulting building has a definite tropical vibe, with a high ceiling and colourful funky lighting. There are six flat screens dotted around the bar, dedicated to showing the latest sporting events, which, when coupled with an impressive alcohol list and extensive international menu make this a great place to kick back and catch a game.

Boatrocks feels like a proper pub rather than a trendy bar. Its interior may not be as salubrious as some of the others on this list but it makes up for it with proper Aussie pub grub, a pool table, live music and, of course, several dedicated sports screens. Boatrocks can be found on the main road between Jimbaran and Uluwatu (Jalan Raya Uluwatu) – you can’t miss it, its the one with a massive boat outside it!

The Melting Pot
The Melting Pot is Ubud’s only sports bar, and fortunately its a good one. There are two large projection screens and a couple of smaller TVs that are used to show major sporting events and they try to accommodate requests if there is a particular game you want to watch. If there is too much drama on the screen, you can take a break with one of their pub games, including billiards, foosball and classic arcade games. In the middle of health conscious Ubud, this is something of a haven for meatlovers, the menu is comprised of all the best of western pub food, including steaks and possibly the best cheeseburger on the island – its probably the only place in Ubud without a salad on the menu!

Piggy’s Bar and Cafe
Over the last few years, Aussie owned Piggy’s has earned itself a reputation as one of the best bars in Kuta and if you know how many bars there are in Kuta, you know that is no mean feat! The food is cheap and cheerful and there is often live music (sometimes with audience participation!). In addition to this, there is a pool table and several screens showing sports (usually AFL or NRL)
The bar is open throughout the day and its great location on Poppies II makes it the perfect place to call in for a cold beer and a tasty meat pie.

Adrenaline Sports Bar
One of Bali’s best sports bars and, according to their website, the only one with air conditioning! Adrenaline can be found on the second floor of Seminyak Square, right in the heart of Bali’s most stylish area. Inside there are 13 TV screens spread spread around the bar, which show sporting events from around the globe, including NRL, NBA and, of course, AFL and ensure that no matter where you sit, you will always have a great view of the game. Adrenaline usually puts together a great package for the AFL Grand Final, although you may have to book in advance to avoid disappointment as this is a popular location.

Old Man’s Bar
For those seeking a younger crowd, Old Man’s in Canggu is a hotspot for any sporting event throughout the year. The bar has large projector screens and TVs throughout the venue as well as ample seating for the high numbers of supporters – be sure to get there early though as the pace still fills up! After the game, there is always some sort of entertainment that will carry on into the early hours of the morning!

Stadium Cafe and Sports Bar
Popular with expats and tourists alike, Stadium is seen by many as the best sports bar on the island – with 3 large screens, 11 TVs and sub zero draught beer on offer, its not hard to understand why. The menu is extensive and has a mixture of Western and Eastern dishes on offer, these can be eaten in the bar or an outside deck with a view over orchid gardens. On some nights the bar is divided into sections, each showing a different sport (e.g AFL and NRL) so its a good idea to get their early or you may end up watching the wrong match!

James Cook Sports Bar
‘The Cook’ as it is known, is an Aussie owned bar on the Kerobokan side of Canggu. They have 9 screens spread across 3 rooms and a promise to show every match from the AFL and NRL finals ‘live and loud’. The food served at The Cook consists mainly of classic Western pub fare, but there are a couple of local favourites thrown in as well. The drinks are all well-priced (including the cocktails!) and there are some awesome happy hour specials.
This is a great place for families as they have a separate kids room, with toys, games and a dvd player that are bound to keep little ones entertained for hours.

Cocoon Beach Club
For those looking for something a little more fancy, Cocoon Beach Club, just across from Double Six Beach in Seminyak is the perfect spot. Fully equipped with a swimming pool overlooking the ocean, pool lounges, mouth-watering cocktails and of course 10 bigs screens as well as 1 mega screen in the lobby. The venue also offer an A La Carte BBQ on the day as well as after game entertainment!

Lucky Day Bar and Restaurant
Over the last few years, this has become one of the most popular sports bars in Seminyak. Inside you will find a couple of large bar areas with 2 massive projector screens and 9 smaller TVs for showing matches. If you are looking for some tasty ribs or a chicken parmigiana to enjoy whilst you watch your team then this is the place to come – as an added bonus they have a kids menu with some real bargain prices. The AFL Grand Final is always an important date in their calendar with celebrations including an all day happy hour and live entertainment going on late into the evening!
